![]() Now, every time I enter the product code (which shows a green checkmark), it asks me to sign in with my Microsoft account. In an attempt to make this work, I did uninstall the program from the old laptop in order to try to deactivate the product key. I now have a Microsoft account, as I followed the prompts while setting up the new laptop. My original installation of Office 2013 on my Windows 7 laptop was activated with the product key but was never registered under a Microsoft account (this is where I think my NOTE: I did not create or have a Microsoft account until getting my new laptop. With Office 2013 pre-installed, so, I attempted to enter my product code (which is an alternative option to logging in with a Microsoft account). I purchased Office 2013 at least a year ago in the form of a product key card from Walmart, and used that to activate my Office 2013 at the time. I recently purchased a new laptop that is running Windows 8.1. I have a rather complicated question, but Microsoft seems to make it extremely difficult to contact them directly therefore, here I am.
